Company Overview

We are JDSmith! An award-winning, family-owned and operated, Canadian company founded in 1919. We are among the longest serving 3PL’s in Canadian history. Our story began with John Dudley Smith and continues today through great leadership, a strong team of players, leading technology, a commitment to win/win relationships and long-term thinking about your business. Our core services include food grade warehousing, in-house co-packing, and a dynamic transportation program. We integrate these three core services to deliver cost effective, elevated service to help our long term client partners grow their business in Canada.

JDSmith is proud to be recipients of the first ever SCL Green Supply Chain Award presented by the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Canada. The award honoured JDSmith for setting and exceeding high standards for environmental friendliness, operating in an ethical manner, and actively seeking ways to improve environmental performance by reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse-gas emission from freight and facility operations. We continue to be responsible in this regard running our business not only from an economic starting point, but also including environmental aspects in the decision making process.

Smartway Transport Partnership in collaboration with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to increase energy efficiency while significantly reducing green house gases and air pollution.

JDSmith has made significant contributions to the ongoing reduction in greenhouse gas emissions through a number of initiatives including in-cab heaters that reduce vehicle idling levels, electric light retrofits in multiple facilities that have lowered electricity consumption, energy-smart roof replacement, solar, and a building automation system that has reduced natural gas consumption. Other green initiatives include recycling and more efficient heating systems.
